Description
Our charming little cotton ballerina dressed in a tulle tutu is named for Marie van Goethem, the 14-year-old subject of the famous Little Dancer sculpture in The Met collection by Edgar Degas (French, 1834-1917). Degas's interest in ballet dancers intensified in the 1870s, and eventually he produced approximately 1,500 works on the subject.
