They regulate sebum production so that there is neither overproduction nor underproduction of the sebaceous glands. The fatty acids help with inflammation on the skin, while the vitamin A it contains supports regeneration. The oil also has an antioxidant effect and protects the skin cells from free radicals, which age the skin.
