Mortice and tenon joints reinforced with teak dowels are used for the fixings to ensure it stands the test of time and long term regular use. As you may well known, teak has a naturally high oil content and a dense grain making it the perfect timber to be left outside and at the mercy of the elements all year without being adversely affected. This also makes it easy to maintain as external protectors are not required just a wipe down on a sunny day periodically is sufficient.
