Taking its name from the second best import of Switzerland, the first being luxury watches, the Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Chocolate Limited Edition watch delivers a modern mechanical timepiece that is as mouth-watering as it is unmissable. The chilli red dial is bluntly contrasted by the chocolate-hued case, a pairing only bettered by the incentive that every owner of the Open Gear ReSec Chocolate watch is gifted a yearlong subscription to Max Chocolatier. Like other Open Gear ReSec watches before it, the elaborate 42-part dial offers the multi-dimensional regulator setup with screw on skeletonised train wheel bridges and funnel-like construction for hour display and a retrograde seconds at 6 o’clock. At the centre, the Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Chocolate Limited Edition features a large lacquered Superluminova Trigono-shaped hand for minutes powered, like the rest of the complications, by the C.301 automatic winding movement. Its construction promises a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a power reserve of 42 hours and 33 jewels, some of which can be seen through the exhibition case back alongside the blue Cotes de Geneve decorated rotor. The 44mm case of the Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec watch is engineered from brown DLC coated stainless steel and incorporates 17 separate components including the screw down case back, screw in 100 metre water resistant crown, polished screw down bezel and sapphire crystal glass treated with double anti-reflective coating. The limited edition of 50 pieces is finalised by a dark brown calfskin leather strap and a folding buckle.
